Education & Training
At J.M. Teague Engineering and Planning, we believe that excellence in transportation engineering and planning depends not only on achieving the highest level of professional standards for the services we offer, but in providing top-notch education and training for other local professionals whose work is essential to public safety and community confidence. That includes everything from work zone flaggers and property developers to local planning boards and school systems.
Toward that end, JMTE acquired the Raleigh, NC- based Kellenberger Engineering, Inc., in June 2015, with a goal of expanding the JMTE Academy to provide high quality, NCDOT-approved courses for professionals, job site supervisors and workers. We are fortunate to have Jim Kellenberger’s nationally-renowned courses as part of the JMTE Academy curriculum. Our instructors have several decades of experience teaching and training professionals who work on everything from roadway repair and improvement projects to best practices for local planning board policies.
JMTE Academy offers NCDOT-approved trainings and certifications in Work Zone Safety, Flagging, and Flagger Instructor. We also offer custom designed courses such as Planning Board Orientation Training, MUTCD Overview and Compliance, Traffic Signal Operation, and Tort Liability. In addition to these specific types of courses, we offer training opportunities for local and state governments, local businesses and industry, developers, insurance agencies, property associations, and schools and religious institutions.
Many of our courses are available for continuing professional competency in multiple fields, including work zone supervisors, surveyors, professional and safety engineers, insurance professionals and more. We offer onsite industry-specific courses as well as periodic training opportunities for individuals who need to obtain or renew certifications. Additional courses can be prepared and presented on request.
We take pride in structuring our courses to incorporate hands-on experience, using current law and real-life examples of the kinds of safety issues that arise in communities every day. We’ll do our best to make sure that everyone – from members of the public to work zone employees – get home safely every day.
Courses may be held at or near your workplace to minimize your travel requirements. To schedule a course or for more information, contact us by phone at 828-456-8383, or email, firstname.lastname@example.org; or contact Jim Kellenberger, Lead Instructor, at 919-621-0362 or email@example.com
