Complete streets

Complete Streets is a national movement in transportation design that focuses on the safety of users of all ages, abilities, and modes of travel.  A Complete Streets approach redefines what a street is intended to do, what goals a transportation agency is going to meet, and how the community will spend its transportation money.  Communities that develop a Complete Streets Policy can individualize their transportation needs in planning, design, operation, and maintenance of their streets.  These policies direct community decision-makers to consistently fund, plan for, design, and construct community streets to accommodate all anticipated users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, motorists, and freight vehicles.
